The Economic Situation of My Country at the Moment

Since the middle of the 80’s Indonesia has been implementing its economic system in capitalism more than socialism that represented by Koperasi.

Koperasi was the economic system which expected to be a future goal by Indonesian founding fathers.

The government had a policy to increase the investment of bank industry. There were plenty of new banks that ‘popped up’ suddenly at that time. Most of the names of the bank were never known before by people who just only knew the old banks like; BRI, BNI, Bank Bumi Daya and Pos Indonesia which had services for saving money.

Banks are the capitalism’s machine. Moreover capitalism system will allow a progressive life style as the source of a provided impact for that system. Therefore Indonesian people has been introduced how to use the money for not just only to cover their needs but also what they want or life style.

The capitalism system also stimulates huge exploration and exploitation for natural resources as well, mostly energy resources. The energy will support the industrial activities that produce some product matters for what people want, not need.

Now, after more than 30 years Indonesia has became one of many countries which are trapped in global capitalism system’s interest. Indonesia tends to be a victim of this system mostly in the next generation’s point of view in life and natural resources.

Indonesia’s natural resources diversities like oil, gas, mineral and coal has become the most targeted of other countries which are the leaders of this system. Almost all the private companies in those exploitation commodities businesses always use it as a primary dividend.

Unfortunately, it is parallelized by an unproductive government companies in that business sector. Because of bureaucracy they have difficulty in competing the private companies. Although government companies never go bankrupt because it is always financially supported by government, the main positive impact of capitalism system is entrepreneurship creativity will be forgotten.

It is not only in government sector but also for youth who want to expand their entrepreneur capabilities. The rate of bank loan is very high; 11% and this can decrease entrepreneur proclivities. Since there has been a gap of entrepreneurship, sooner or later Indonesian people are being educated to become just only a consumer. Perhaps this is the part of global scenario to maintain a recession in Indonesia.

However, there is still a bright side in a very dark corner :)

Government and representatives should have the same vision and mission as the effort to make a good opportunity that supports Indonesia’s economic breakthrough. Moreover the media must be participated as an educative agent for the people especially the youth.

After all, better economy for Indonesia is worth being forecasted.
